Overview
Flint Engine supports WhatsApp as a communication channel through the settings configuration. This allows customers to reach you via WhatsApp for support and inquiries.
Setting Up WhatsApp
- Navigate to Settings → Social Media
- Find the WhatsApp field
- Enter your WhatsApp business phone number with country code
- Save the settings
Phone Number Format
Enter the phone number in international format:
- Include the country code (e.g.,
+8801712345678) - Do not include spaces or dashes
- The number should be reachable on WhatsApp Business
Customer Experience
When the WhatsApp number is configured:
- A WhatsApp contact link appears on the website
- Customers can click to start a WhatsApp conversation directly
- No app installation required on your side (uses WhatsApp Web or mobile app)
Common Use Cases
- Pre-sales Questions — Customers ask about products before purchasing
- Order Support — Customers inquire about order status
- Technical Support — Customers report issues with software
- License Issues — Customers need help with activation
Limitations
- WhatsApp messages are not integrated into the support chat system
- Conversations happen in the WhatsApp app, not in the admin panel
- Message history is stored on WhatsApp, not in Flint Engine
- No automated responses or chatbot integration by default
Live Chat Alternative
For conversations managed within the admin panel, use the Live Chat system instead. Live chat provides:
- Real-time messaging within the admin panel
- Conversation history stored in the database
- Status management and archiving
- Integration with customer purchase history
Tip: Use WhatsApp for quick, informal communication. Use the Live Chat system for tracked, documented support conversations.
